The kids had a lot of fun with Valentine’s Day this year. They loved making homemade valentines and Kayli even wrote the words on most of hers. She knows how to write most of the letters by memory now or if she didn’t remember I would show her and she would copy it down pretty good! Her preschool Valentine party was at our house and it was also super fun! This was the first year she actually got to exchange valentines with friends and Beau even got to be part of it too so Valentine’s Day was a success! And these boys showed up at our door with flowers and chocolates for the girls. Kayli thought that was pretty cool.
These kids have been OBSESSED with puzzles lately. It’s actually been fun for all of us. We like working together on these huge movie poster puzzles. Beau has gotten really good at puzzles too from helping so much and he can now do 24 piece puzzles all by himself. Kayli can do 63 piece puzzles without help.
We’ve also been obsessed with riding our bikes. Beau is super fast on his strider bike now and Kayli has gotten the hang of riding hers-even though she’s not quiet as fast as Beau! We love riding bikes to the park and back and the weather has been so perfect that we’ve done it lots! We like meeting up with friends to ride too! I wish we had a picture of all of us riding but I’ve only got one of Beau. He’s the funniest on his bike. He rides so fast and really scares me but he’s also really obedient, safe, and smart. He listens right away if I tell him to slow down or stop and he always stops perfectly at the streets. He also thinks it’s funny to ram into things-or Kayli! Such a boy!
Baby Evelyn was blessed this month and we got to go to that and then to a family brunch at Rachel’s. Austin and Kim were able to come down from Idaho so we got to see them too! And we still love holding Evelyn every chance we get. She’s adorable and it makes us excited to meet our baby in July!
Kenny has always loved off-roading but it’s once again become a hobby in his life. Him and his group of friends are a little obsessed with that lately and it’s pretty funny. They like going out early Saturday mornings and riding and I’m starting to hear about all the things his 4 Runner now needs!
I’m just busy growing a baby. I’m 23 weeks now. I’m really trying to still enjoy my hobbies but I’ve had to stop running and even walking makes me feel sore. I’m still doing volleyball but definitely getting slower every week. I do enjoy hanging out with my girlfriends and reading books while I can’t sleep at night! We can’t decide on a baby boy name. And that’s about all from me!
The kids and Kenny planted flowers in our planter box on our porch and they love watering them every morning.
These two love having their friends over.
A little about Kayli. She loves volleyball and always wants to pass back and forth. Then we’ll practice setting and then hitting. She’s pretty good! She gives really thoughtful prayers. Today she gave a talk in primary and she did great! She spoke clearly and loud and it was a really big deal for us! She’s been assigned things in primary before but she’s always gotten up and froze and sometimes even cried or screamed so for her to get up today and do it so well was huge. We may have bribed her with ice-cream but that’s never worked before anyway but today when she sat back down with her class she yelled to me that now she got her ice-cream! She loves learning and loves to practice what she’s learning. She always wants “homework” and loves practicing her letters and writes us notes all the time. I love it! She’s phasing out of naps a little but during nap/quiet time she loves to listen to books on tape, look at books, color, make cards, or practice writing. She is doing so much better about being brave. This week she went to preschool at Laura’s house. When she got there she noticed the dog was in the backyard. Normally she screams and won’t go! Laura has even sent the dog away during school sometimes! But this week, even with the dog there, she just went even though she was a little nervous. She also used to get so scared when her primary teacher wasn’t there but now she goes just fine even if there’s a substitute. And then today with the talk-I can see her really growing up! She’s a funny girl who’s love language is definitely not cuddling, hugs, or saying “I love you”. She loves quality time. She always wants the family to do things together. She loves playing games, puzzles, making up games and making us play them, baking with us, cleaning together, and drawing out bedtime so she gets to hang out with mom or dad and sing or read books. That’s really what she loves. Ask for a hug though and you probably won’t get one!
Beau on the other hand is fearless and very brave. He’s fine leaving us for nursery and he loves it in there. He also is very much a cuddler and loves hugs and just sitting close to us. He is very sweet and very quick to say “I’m sorry” or “thank you”. He is doing so much better at talking and his favorite sentence is “Dad, Beau beat you home!” He loves racing home whenever we have two cars. We sing “I am a Child of God” every night with him and although he can’t say all the words he definitely tries and does know a bunch! He says them right on cue and in tune too! He also smiles the entire song through and at the end he is so happy and proud of himself and gives us a big hug. He is all boy and loves to run around the house and jump on to the couch, roll around and flip back off, play dead, drive his cars around while using sound effects, pester Kayli and throw a football back and forth. He also loves his grandpas and whenever he is sad I can hear him crying for grandpa. He wants to name the baby Booboo. He doesn’t mind playing house or Barbies with Kayli and he happily just plays along. He’s still on a mattress on the floor and sometimes has a hard time going to sleep with his new freedom of no crib. I find him asleep in funny places a lot too. He also loves to set the table. He also loves books, especially Look and Finds. He likes to read before he falls asleep at night.
We sure love these kids!
