We’ve kept quite busy this summer! I’ve been on an every-other-week trip lately and it’s not over yet! We’re just making up for last summer when we didn’t vacation at all.
We went to the lake with McKay and Keresa and the kids loved riding on the couch tube!
I had the best Girls’ Trip a few weekends ago. Me, Erin, and Haley headed up to Provo for a weekend of shopping and eating out. They’ve both been thru a lot the past year and so we decided to take a quick trip to get away. It was very needed and so much fun. The dad’s were awesome and stayed home with the kids and had a lot of fun hanging out. We shopped at Riverwoods, City Creek, 4 Chairs Furniture, the Bijou Market, University Mall, and I’m sure I’ve forgotten others. We ate at lots of great restaurants too and had dessert at Swig and The Chocolate. We stayed up way too late chit chatting. We almost went roller skating, tried to find Stephanie Nielson’s house, drove to the mental hospital, found Haley and Erin’s old apartments at BYU, and met up with Haley’s family for breakfast one morning. It was such a good time and we are ready to do it again!
We went bowling for Grandpa Eliason’s birthday.
We went to San Diego to see Josh and Mandy! They have moved up to the Rancho Bernardo area and the drive to Solana Beach was so beautiful. We played at a park there and had lunch at a yummy shop called Swammies (I think). The first day Kenny went to work with Josh for a little bit so Mandy and I took the kids to Rubios and Sprinkles. It was a disaster! Kids were crazy and made huge messes so we were ready for the dad’s to come help. We met Kenny and went to rent bikes to ride up and down the boardwalk at Mission Beach. It was craziness too! We went to Old Town and got candy at the cute candy shop there. We went to Phil’s BBQ for dinner and after that we kept saying we needed a kid-free vacation! The next day we took the kids to Mission Beach to play and that was a lot of fun. Trey loved the water and Kayli learned how to boogie board all by herself. They all loved digging in the sand too. That night we did a bonfire at the bay and roasted hot dogs and s’mores. We really like doing that and when the sun starts to set it’s really so pretty! The kids all had fun playing together and it’s always a fun time when we hang out with Josh and Mandy. We’ve lived away from them for 5 years now but are still such great friends! We sure love them!
We also took a trip with the Cahills! Our Girls’ Camp was at Big Bear and since Mike needed to go one night and Erin wanted to go for a bit they decided to get a cabin and make a trip out of it and we joined and I’m glad we did! Our kids have so much fun playing together and it was just so fun and easy to vacation with them! The first night the kids wanted to ride bikes outside and Kenny taught them cool tricks. We even put Trey on a scooter and he was amazing! He can’t walk yet but he’ll stand on a scooter and ride down a hill. I don’t get it. The next day we rode the Alpine Slides and went to the Discovery Center. We walked around the main street and had lunch. We had lots of fun just hanging out at the cabin too and playing foosball and watching Olympics! Friday we went to the zoo and Trey had the best time! He is obsessed with animals (unlike our other kids)! Then we rented bikes and rode almost 6 miles thru the town and around the lake. That was quite the crazy adventure! We went and got big ice cream cones after that! We had fun staying up late just hanging out, eating junk good, and playing games. We had a good time and sure love all of our good friends!
Beau turned 4! I think one of my favorite things is watching our kids have so much fun on their birthdays. I love how Beau says, “it’s my birthday” in his cute, squeaky voice and I’ll be sad the year he doesn’t say it so cute. Ha! That morning him and dad went and picked out donuts for breakfast and then we met mom and Kim at the movies and saw “The Secret Life of Pets”. He wanted to have a Blaze and Hot Wheels party and as much as I hate party planning and throwing parties-I couldn’t resist because he’d been talking about this for weeks! A few of his friends were out of town but he still had a blast at his party. We raced cars down ramps, played some Blaze games and of course had cake and presents. He got some really cool presents and he’s had a blast playing with everything! We got him a Hot Wheels Garage so he can organize his cars and race them down ramps. He’s obsessed with his cars and trucks. It was fun spoiling him and making the day all about him. We sure love Beau!
We went to the Teddy Bear Clinic at the hospital where the doctors and nurses help you take care of your teddy bear. It was pretty neat!
Grandma took Kayli out for a fun day before school starts and they had quite the day! They went to lunch, Yogurtland, Target for some last minute school clothes, and got manicures and then slurpees to bring back to Beau. Mom loves taking Kayli shopping because she is quite the shopper and likes to try on clothes but is so particular about things and how they fit that it’s so funny. She is also very grateful when Grandma buys her stuff. Mom said it’s so hard not to buy her lots!
Trey is a great sleeper but when he’s awake he sure is hard right now! He climbs on everything and I’ve found him on the very top of the piano and he’s constantly on the table eating leftover food. He screams and squeals constantly. Can’t take him anywhere! He doesn’t want to stay in a stroller or in our arms and always wants down but he won’t walk! He can-he’s taken up to 14 steps at a time but he refuses to walk! I think we’d all be happier if he would walk and just follow us around. He also loves to dance and he’ll dance to anything. He can’t help himself! When he hears music he just has to dance! He has 16 teeth! I hope we are done with teething for awhile. 16 teeth already!! He loves food and will eat anything. He is by far our best eater! He is figuring things out. He knows that shoes go on feet, that lids go back on things, how to use the phone, etc. He doesn’t say actual words but definitely “talks” in his own way. We think he might know “yeah” and “no” and uses those sometimes. He is loving and likes to go to people.
Beau started T-ball practice and he is liking it! We are hopeful this goes better than soccer did. Mike is his coach and Kenny is helping so that is nice. He is on a team with 8 other boys from our ward! It’s been fun to go to practice and watch all these friends play and it’s fun hanging out with all my mom friends there! I’m excited for the games. He also starts preschool in 2 weeks and he’s excited!
Kayli starts full-day Kindergarten on Monday and I can’t even believe it! I am so excited for her and yet so nervous too. She has Mrs. Buell who we have heard is amazing but she doesn’t know anyone in her class. She is good at making friends and I think she’ll be fine but I will be so nervous all day Monday! She is so excited about it all though and can’t wait to meet her teacher tomorrow! She has LOVED back to school shopping and coordinating outfits, picking out a lunch box and backpack and getting all ready! She also likes to go the gym with me and making crafts. She loves playing with her friends.
And one more of my helpers…
