For Spring Break we took a trip to Utah. It’d been 7 months since we’d seen my Varney family and mom and dad were going up that week and Kenny had some work stuff to do in Provo so we made a fun trip out of it. The kids were so excited! They love going to see all of the family up there. They couldn’t even stand the long car ride because they were so excited! We stopped at Swig of course and tried out Zaxby’s in Cedar.
We made dinner for everyone when we got to Grandma and Grandpa Varney’s house and then Cindy’s family and David’s family came over and we hung out with them all night. It was so fun chatting with everyone and even though we were so tired we stayed up so late catching up!
On Sunday Kayli helped mom and Grandpa make lasagna for dinner and it was delicious! We went to church with Cindy and that night went to Ben’s Court of Honor. We stayed up late visiting with everyone again. It’s so fun to listen to Grandma and Grandpa’s stories about when they were younger and they always surprise us with new stories. Grandma told us about how she was always strong and active in the church, even as a young girl and even when most of her family wasn’t. Thankfully, she did always stay strong and that has led her and her family to where we all are now! She also talked about how her mom was supposed to go thru the temple and died 2 days before her date to go. The sisters decided to do her work that day anyway so her temple work was completed 2 days after she died. (That’s the story, right Grandma?!)
Monday we went to Thanksgiving Point and we had a blast! We were there the entire day but the kids just kept going and wanted to do it all so we did! Mike got us all in for absolutely free. We would have spent $210 if we had paid for everything we did so that was awesome! We did the Tulip Festival and the statues of Christ which were pretty incredible. It was fun riding around in a golf cart too! Then we did the Dinosaur Museum, the Farm, and the Curiosity Museum. The kids loved it all! The Farm was so fun because Kayli had been learning about animals in school and she was so excited to see all of the animals and teach us what she’d been learning. They even all rode ponies-which they’ve always been too scared to do! Beau was really scared at first but then decided he wanted to go back and be brave and do it-and he did! They were all so fun at the Curiosity Museum and Dinosaur Museum too-they are so interested in learning new things! Kayli kept wanting us to send her teacher pictures of all the things she was discovering!
On Tuesday we went to Hogle Zoo and it was a blast too! The weather was perfect, the zoo was so cute, and all three kids were very interested in the animals. Trey loved the sea lions and seals so much but really they all loved all of the animals. Since This is the Place Park is across the street from the zoo we stopped there and Kenny and Kayli ran real quick to check it out and get a picture. The boys had already fallen asleep by time we got across the street! We also went to to see cousin Presley’s All Access Park and then got pizza with mom and dad. That night some of us went to The Chocolate which is one of my new favorite things to do up there. We had our own room and it was fun just chatting with all the family.
Wednesday we went to Provo Beach Resort and played at the arcade and ate at the diner. We drove up Provo Canyon and looked at river and then headed home. We had a busy and fun week!
We made it home for Easter and on Saturday we had Rachel and her kids and mom over to color eggs and do an Easter Egg Hunt. Adam and Beau were more into playing basketball than coloring eggs, but they did some. The girls loved coloring eggs. We had a fun egg hunt at the park and then the kids rode bikes and played at the park.
Easter morning was a lot of fun. The kids got some fun things in their baskets and we did a little egg hunt again at the grass with friends. We had a yummy Easter breakfast and a great Sunday celebrating our Savior’s Resurrection. We had Easter dinner with Eliason’s and another egg hunt with those cousins and the kids played Cornhole which is their new favorite game to play. We did so many hunts but every time was so much fun and I loved watching the kids run around having fun.
We did an egg bunt with a bunch of friends from the ward too.
Beau had a really fun preschool Easter party too. They made Easter bags, played lots of fun games, had an egg hunt and had lots of treats. Kim did a great job and the kids had a blast. Even Trey! He loves Kim too so he kept wanting to hang out with her! Beau has the cutest group of preschool friends and I can’t believe there’s only a month left!
Kayli had to do an animal report with the help of her family. She chose to research dolphins. We went to the library and checked out lots of books and then at home while we read them she would fill out a circle map. Then she had to use her information to write her report and draw a picture. Then she had to fill out a questionnaire that she would have to present to her class. She was so diligent reading and writing her report and practicing her presentation. It was the cutest thing! She says she did a good job presenting in her class.
Beau has been loving soccer and we have been loving watching him play. He has a super fun team and they are all best friends. It’s fun having the grandparents come as well. He scores lots of goals and is very aggressive. He likes to anticipate where the ball will be going and get there to the open space to be ready for it. He’s been practicing saving the ball from going out of bounds too.
We went down to the Strip for Chase’s birthday. We hadn’t walked the strip in years so it was a fun excuse to go down! He wanted to check out the Taco Bell on the Strip and even though it really is normal Taco Bell food, it was the fanciest Taco Bell. It was fun! We walked thru the Bellagio Conservatory and then had cake at their house. It was a great excuse to have a fun date night!
Kayli has lost both of her front teeth! She has the cutest smile! The tooth fairy came but then it was really weird because a few days later Kayli found her teeth in a bag in our room. She was really concerned but she figured that the Tooth Fairy must have dropped them and left them here! She wrote the Tooth Fairy a note and left it under her pillow with the teeth telling her that she found her teeth. Luckily, the Tooth Fairy came again and told her thank you so much because she had lost the teeth!
Beau and Kayli got to go to work with dad for Take-Your-Kid-To-Work Day. Beau went one day and Kayli went the next. She was excited to finally miss a full day of school. They both did great and had a lot of fun. They both loved taking care of Jacee’s baby and Kayli got to hang out with Keaton so she loved that! Beau loves hanging out with Wesley! They both chose McDonalds for lunch and they got to go on a bike ride downtown. Kayli made some posters and got to go to a meeting.
We went to Kayli’s Field Day and for as much as she says she hates P.E. she sure looked like she was having a good time and she did great! Beau wanted to do it all so bad so he’s excited for next year! He found McKay there so he had fun playing with him.
The kids love to play outside with the neighbor, big Trey, and they ride their bikes or jump on the tramp or play basketball. Beau has loved practicing basketball. He practices dribbling and shooting hoops all on his own and he’s getting good! Kayli and Beau even slept half a night out on the trampoline! They’ve also started a Friday night tradition where they get to watch a movie and sleep in the loft.
The kids have been so helpful lately. My body is starting to hurt a lot and so I’ve got them helping me with little things-like laundry. They love to start and switch the loads for me and they are great at it. I don’t even have to remind them to switch the load. They have been a great blessing for me!
Kayli is thoughtful and likes to make cards and little gifts for people, especially on their birthday. She made Taylor a card for his birthday and then had us send pictures of all three pages to Taylor. Yesterday she made Kelli a sweet card and bracelet and made her primary teachers thank you cards that they loved. We get cards often from her that she leaves in random places and I always love them. Recently I got one from Beau as well so he’s noticing that she does that. She gave an awesome talk in primary last week that she practiced a lot and read all by herself. She loves to run around with Parker and Taylor at soccer practice and games and they are always giggling and having a great time. I thought it was so funny the other day when she was outside with big Trey when Beau was gone. He is 10 and she was giggling so hard at everything he said and did. He was being crazy on the bike ramps and she kept being so funny and saying “I can’t watch”!
Beau told me the other day that when he grows up he wants to work at UHAUL. He says once when he went there with dad he thought it was so cool inside. He is reading like crazy and loves to learn and spell new words. He loves preschool so much and is sad it’s almost over but he’s excited for Kindergarten. He loves his primary teachers and was so sad when Bro. Melvin moved. He made him a sweet thank you card. He likes to learn new things and tell us about it. He got a new BMX bike that dad thinks is pretty awesome and he is already crazy on it. They even went and rode at a BMX bike course.
Trey has a very particular way about getting tucked in at night and we never want to forget it. He even wants a book to read some nights. But he’s great at going to sleep and staying asleep. He likes nursery and loves all of his sweet nursery leaders. He really loves who he loves and gives out hugs to everyone when he sees them. He is such a sweet and loving boy. Every time I walk into a room he yells “mom!” and runs and gives me hug. He is starting to use more sounds and loves animals. He likes to look at animal books and is always holding his little toy animals. He can make lots of animal sounds. He does the actions to Popcorn Popping and Roll Your Hands. He loves Beau and always wants to know where Beau is. He is also loving his new basketball hoop and likes to play with Beau. He’s just now into coloring and drawing with the kids and he’ll come show me his drawing and usually make a dinosaur sound because he drew a dinosaur. He likes to take pictures and will “cheese” for us the whole time. He likes to make pretend food and bring it to us.
We sure love these kids!
