Some friends and I decided to join a women’s indoor soccer league and it has been so much fun! I looked forward to the games so much and Kenny and the kids liked coming. Mom and dad even came to the last few. It’s fun being part of a team again! We have loved playing and have even scrimmaged the husbands a few times and some of us go practice at the park. The kids love it because they get to play with all of their friends. The season just ended but I can’t wait to play again!
Me, Kayli, and Beau went to Disney on Ice with Rachel’s family and mom and dad. It was incredible! Mom and dad got the kids tickets for Christmas. It was also a little celebration for Evelyn’s 2nd birthday.
The next morning we drove up to Pine Valley to spend the long weekend with Kenny’s family (minus Taylor and Kaci). Lindsay’s family has an awesome cabin up there that they invited us to come stay at. The kids were in heaven. There was lots of snow and they got to build a snowman, sled, and ride behind the razor on sleds. They loved the movie theater, all the fun games, doing puzzles, and all the space to run around with the cousins. We had really good food, stayed up late playing games with the adults, and just hanging out doing whatever we wanted. I even got to read a book for the first time in probably 2 years (by the fire even!) On the way home we stopped at this awesome new dinosaur park in Santa Clara.
Kenny took the kids to Home Depot one Saturday to make Valentine’s Day picture frames. Then they went to FLIPnOUT to see the Ninja Turtles!
The kindergarteners dressed up as 100 year-olds for the 100th day of school. We borrowed Kaci’s old lady wig and Kayli was quite a hit!
We got to celebrate Grandma Taylor’s 80th birthday with a big surprise party/show for her. Kayli, Kaci, and Kate performed “Dear Future Husband” on ukuleles and Kayli performed her heart out in front of everyone! I didn’t know if she really would but she did it! Trey loved going up on stage and dancing and Beau was hardly around because he loved running around with all the boys. It was a fun night and fun to celebrate Kenny’s sweet grandma.
Josh and Mandy came to visit last weekend and we got to do a lot of fun things. They love eating at Cafe Rio when they are here so we did that and even got to see Josh’s parents who happened to be here that weekend too. Then we went to FLIPnOUT which is Lexi’s favorite thing to do while she’s here. That night we got two babysitters and we were able to hang out just adults which never happens with them! We went to Maggiano’s and then to a pro soccer game that Kenny ran the marketing for. All of NeONBRAND came and we had a blast just hanging out with no kids. Sunday they came to church with us and Beau took Lexi to his class. Sunday was Kari’s birthday so they came with us to her birthday dinner over at the Eliason’s. They know all of Kenny’s family so it was a lot of fun. They left Monday morning for Utah but we got to hang out more than we usually do with them. It’s always a ton of fun to get together!
Valentine’s Day was fun! The kids spent a few nights making Valentine’s for relatives and loved mailing some of them to Utah or across town. I made coupon books for the kids this year instead of a little toy and they got a box of chocolates. They both had school parties and loved making and taking Valentines and they came home with lots of fun stuff. Kayli’s school also did a Valentine’s Dance that we all got to go to. She had fun with her friends and even danced a little bit! Every year, the boys like to knock on the door and when me and Kayli answer they are there with flowers for us. Trey was so cute this year walking in with flowers too. That night we took the kids and went with the Cahills to Dave and Buster’s. It was pretty empty which was great and the kids loved playing the arcade games. Kayli scored big time when she spun 1,000 points on a big wheel game so they actually got some pretty neat things with their tickets.
We celebrated mom’s birthday with dinner at their house on Sunday. We hadn’t been able to make it to a Sunday dinner since Christmas. Then yesterday we surprised her and all of use met at Dave and Buster’s. Even Emily and the kids were able to come.
Kayli is such a responsible, creative, fun girl. She is loving her primary teachers, Sis. Allred and Sis. Pike and is always making things for them or showing them things. Her absolute most favorite thing to do right now is play school. She will play for hours after school if we are home. The minute she gets home she is upstairs in her classroom we created for her and playing. She changes into her teacher outfit and she goes all out pretending to be a teacher. Sometimes me or Beau are the principal or another teacher and play along with her. She is obsessed. In fact, today her and I went shopping for some teacher supplies. She came home with a calendar set that we even went and had laminated and a few other things. And she has more ideas! It’s cute for me to watch because I was the exact same way when I was little and I hope she does grow up to be a teacher if she still wants to be when the time comes! She had a really good report card and is working hard on her reading. She likes to read books in her bed at night. We are also reading Sideways Stories from Wayside School at bedtime-which was one of my favorites I’d read to my class when I taught.
Beau is terrified of dogs but when Josh and Mandy were here with their dog, Boston, he got used to him by the last day and would even kind of play with him. Then at preschool that week, Kim sent me a picture of Beau playing with her dog! So maybe he is coming around! He is about to start playing soccer with all of his friends and I’m excited to watch him. He loves school and he has such a passion for learning. He works so hard and is reading now-thanks to Kayli learning to read. He has really soaked up our practicing sight words with her and sounding out words and he is reading! But he loves it and he works hard at it himself. He just kind of picked it up! He also likes to lay in bed at night reading books and is so determined to figure out each word. I loved seeing his determination and how he has worked so hard at this! He is so good with Trey and likes to play with him, read to him, and watch shows with him.
Trey is our little loving boy. He has such a gift for making others feel loved. When he sees people he knows and loves he runs up to them and hugs them and is really so excited to see them! He makes others’ day all the time! It’s really sweet. He says “Beau” and sometimes “Beau Beau” in the cutest way ever. I never want to forget how he says it. He is obsessed with Beau and always wants to know where he is. He looks for him all the time and loves to play with the big kids. He loves to jump on the trampoline with them and keeps up really well. He has gotten so good! He started nursery last month and actually goes! It has made our Sundays much easier since Kenny and I are both pretty busy at church.
