A fun jeep outing…
We went to San Antonio with Mike and Erin. We decided to go somewhere before I had surgery again and with so many limited options because of COVID we settled on San Antonio and…it was fine. Haha. Of course we had fun with our friends and it was nice to get away for a bit but we kept saying the whole weekend that it was just fine. How was the restaurant? It was fine. How was that adventure? It was fine. After doing Waco and Austin last year it seemed like nothing could compare. We did do some cool things though. The Natural Bridge Caverns was pretty cool. It is one of the biggest caves in the U.S. and so was the riverwalk. We did the Alamo, went out to New Braunfels, a little German town, did the Japanese Tea Gardens, the Tower of the Americas, scootered around downtown and my personal favorite… did a (haunted?) neighborhood house tour and even ended up inside one of them! We met this super nice guy who lived in the neighborhood and we told him how much we loved the houses and he asked if we wanted to see inside. We kind of laughed and somehow ended up following him inside wondering if this how are lives ended. He took us on a whole tour of his (beautiful) house. When he showed us the elevator we thought this is for sure where he kills us! Haha. It made for funny stories later. There was no evidence of his wife that he talked about so we wondered if she was the ghost that made the house haunted and when he gave us all sparkling waters we saved it for later in case he had poisoned it. Haha our imaginations were running wild! In reality, he was probably a super nice guy and that was southern hospitality that we just aren’t used to! We laughed about that encounter the rest of the night and still talk about the guy (we never got his name!) who took us inside his haunted mansion yet somehow we made it out alive.
Beau started “hockey”! In order to play on the Junior Golden Knights hockey team at City National Arena you have to pass an ice-skating class and a hockey class. He started the ice-skating class since he isn’t playing any sports right now due to COVID restrictions. He loved it! The whole place is decked out Golden Knights and all the kids wear Knights gear and Beau loves it all. He is doing awesome and loves to come home and practice on roller blades. It was so fun to watch him learn new skating skills too!
We had a family Halloween weekend where Kenny got the bus and we picked up our families and did fun things. Friday we picked up all of my family and went to a pumpkin patch. The cousins ran around the place and had a lot of fun. They thought the bus was so cool and sang songs the entire time. We had In-N-Out on the bus and even had an alien join us that Beau won at the pumpkin patch.
Saturday we took Kenny’s family and met Kelsi’s family at the Moapa Corn Maze. We hadn’t been out there for years so it was fun to do that with them. Everyone was able to come and the kids had fun with the maze and all the games and seeing animals! It was so much fun taking all of them on the bus too.
We were so happy to hear that our school PTA was putting on a trunk-or-treat and Hocus Pocus movie night at the park! We have missed being at school so much! The weather was great and we loved eating out on the grass. The kids loved playing Descendents at the park and walking home with McCormicks in the dark.
Friday was Nevada Day so the kids didn’t have school. Kenny stayed home in the morning and we carved pumpkins.
Halloween night we did trick-or-treating with my family, neighbors, and friends. Our neighborhood goes crazy and we always have tons of people! It was still pretty great this year although there were probably less people than other years. We celebrated dad’s birthday by watching the BYU game after trick-or-treating and air frying lots of food and eating candy of course. It was a great Halloween!
We went night off-roading and loved seeing stars and coming to an old mine. The kids thought it was the coolest thing!
Kayli is obsessed with Descendents and loves chatting with cousins and friends about it. She has tons of books and likes looking up trivia and creating Google Slides about it with Collyns. She is loving gymnastics and is flipping around all day long practicing. She is working really hard! She is looking forward to her birthday!
Such a funny journal entry. And had a sweet note from her when we got back from our trip.
Beau is loving playing hockey out front most days. He is liking learning multiplication and cursive. He is also doing awesome with piano lessons. He also flips around all day and does what Kayli does although not as gracefully. He keeps in touch with Carter and likes getting mail from him. And of course, he loves playing outside with his buddies.
Trey is working really hard in Kindergarten. He is a good sport with distance ed. He loves to chat with his friends and Mrs. Buell. He is getting tall and looking so much older. He is terrified of having bad dreams at night.
School is much better with friends! Mrs. Buell is the best. She sent Trey a coloring book so he could practice coloring. Came outside with a whole carrot he had peeled himself. Trey made these with his class (online-his teacher is amazing) and he wanted to make one for everyone in the family.
Sami is trying to survive with all her siblings home all day, every day with nowhere to go. She is the hard one right now but I guess it’s unfair that she doesn’t get alone time with mom and fun classes to go to or even morning park days since we’re all home for school. I feel bad I’m missing out on all that with her. BUT she gets to start a gymnastics class this week with a girl in our ward at her house down the street. She is so excited!!! I’m glad she will finally have her own thing to go do. She is worried about witches. She even woke up one night because the witches were on her bed trying to get her.
She loves “boy Kasey”! Uncle Kasey but he’s the boy not the girl like Aunt Kaci. He is so funny and fun and he won her over while we were all at the cabin in September. What happens when mom is helping the other kids with school…
I’m just looking forward to knee surgery in 24 days and am barely surviving all of this homeschool stuff! Ha.
