The boys love going to Fathers and Sons and had really been looking forward to it. Trey even got to go this year! They also took Kenny’s dad with them and dad’s pop-up trailer. Trey had a hard time going to sleep with all the freedom of not being in a crib but they had a good time! Kayli and me went to Hobby Lobby and Panera Bread and then Pop with some of the moms and girls from our ward. We had a blast too. Afterwards, she wasn’t tired and wanted to go shop for clothes and stuff for her “classroom” so we kept on shopping and got home and in bed super late but it was a lot of fun having a girls’ night.
Kenny had been dying to take all the kids to the BMX bike park out in Henderson so we went with the Cahills and Rachel’s family for FHE one night. The kids all fell a few times and all cried, but in the the end I think they all had a good time and did pretty good! Kayli has a cool scar on her elbow from her fall.
Soccer came to an end and it sure was a fun season! The team won most of their games and they scored lots of goals. It was fun playing on a team where the kids were all already best friends! They had a fun end-of-the-season pool party and they got medals. Ed and Ashley were great coaches and I loved watching Beau have a great time out there and really improve.
Kayli was such a big help at the soccer practices with the little kids. She’d watch them and play with them. It was fun to watch the 1 and 2 year old kids all run around playing together too.
We went to Kayli’s school carnival which was a lot of fun. The kids went on the ferris wheel ride alone which was totally fine except that Trey went too-which was a little scary. They played lots of games, got their faces painted, and loved seeing their friends there.
The kids painted pots and planted flowers and now they water their plants every day. Trey likes to pour way too much water in there so we really have to keep an eye on him.
Mother’s Day was great! I love it every year. The Sunday before Mother’s Day we had dinner at our house with my family so that we could celebrate mom. It was a fun night and I am very grateful for my mom! This year both kids were in school and made me some pretty special gifts. Beau’s preschool did the cutest little program for the moms. I loved all the homemade things they made and gave me. Kayli loves giving gifts and cards and I got all kinds of things from her. We had dinner at Kenny’s parents’ house on Mothers Day and Tracy cooked us all dinner. I am also so grateful for Kenny’s mom! Kenny got me a room at the JW Marriott with some of my friends that we will be cashing in on this weekend so that is exciting!
Beau and Kayli are going to play on the same baseball team in the fall and Kayli surprised us when she said she wanted to be on the team too. Kenny took her to the store right away for a pink mitt and then she wanted to go have practice. The three of them were too cute practicing throwing and catching.
Kenny got a new jeep! He decided it was time to get rid of this twenty-year old 4 Runner but he also loved that 4 Runner and was sad to see it go. That 4 Runner has been around since we were dating! His jeep is really nice though and perfect for off-roading. He’s had a lot of fun with it and I’m glad he could get something nice for himself.
We had a great Memorial Day! Kenny, Chase, and Mike planned a huge off-roading trip for us and we spent most of the day with them. We went out to Nelson’s Landing by Boulder City and did a trail out there. Then we went to the little town and looked at some of the old shops and cars. The kids thought it was pretty cool. Then we went down to Lake Mohave and swam and ate lunch. It made for a fun day! On the way home we stopped at mom and dad’s for a BBQ and water balloon fight. The kids had a blast with all the water fights.
Beau had his preschool graduation a few weeks ago and it made me so sad for a lot of reasons. I’m sad my cute, little boy is growing up and going to Kindergarten soon. He also loved his preschool friends so much and wouldn’t get to see them as much. He also loved Mrs. Kim and her family and so it makes me sad that he doesn’t get to see them or go over to their house as much. He LOVED school and I hope he continues that love for learning in elementary school. I loved hearing him sing his songs in the program. I could watch the videos over and over again. Mrs. Kim talked a little about each kid at the graduation and she said some really special things about Beau. She talked about how good he reads and how he read thru all of her books that she sends home. She also said that he runs really fast. He had a great year, great friends, a great teacher and he accomplished things I never even expected him to or thought possible. I love my little Beau who loves to learn!
Kayli also had a super cute Kindergarten graduation. They had been practicing songs for their program for awhile and Kayli memorizes songs so fast that she’d been singing them at home for weeks. I was anxious to see if she’d perform in front of an audience the way she did at home and she did! She loved it up there with the other kids and she sang and performed her little heart out! Afterwards, the teachers gave them diplomas and they got to show us their memory books and get autographs, take pictures, and eat cookies. It was so much fun! She even got to leave school early that day after the graduation. She also had a great year and accomplished a lot. We loved Mrs. Buell and Kayli has loved playing school every single day pretending to be just like Mrs. Buell. I got to help in her classroom about twice a month so I also got to see her in the classroom setting, and also came to love Mrs. Buell. I’m sad Kindergarten is over for her but I’m excited for her to continue learning in first grade!
The next day we ditched work and school and went down super early to Newport Beach to meet Josh and Mandy for the day. They were there staying at the Newport Coast Villas with family. We had met Josh’s parents plenty of times but had never met his oldest brother’s family. Our kids instantly loved all of their kids. Their older girls loved watching the little kids and the little kids loved them. And of course they liked playing with Lexi and Avery. We went to Crystal Cove and played at the beach and ate Ruby’s on the beach. Then we went back to their hotel and swam in the pools which are super nice! Then we went to Fashion Island for dinner and then to Sprinkles. We stayed until 9:00 that night then drove all the way home. We were tired but it was worth it. We love getting together with the Poulsen’s and we weren’t sure what the summer would be like (mostly how I’d feel) and thought we better get a quick beach trip/J&M trip in in case we can’t do it later. We had a blast and I love watching my kids have so much fun at the beach.
Kayli was excited for the last day of school and to be on summer break and I was excited for summer but sad my girl was done with Kindergarten. The last day was fun and she got some fun presents from her teacher. She also got the award for “Most Likely to Become a Teacher” which is so true. She had a perfect report card and nice notes from her teacher. We spent the next day making a big memory book of some things she wanted to keep. We also made a plan to keep this girl occupied and happy all summer. She likes a plan, she likes your attention, she likes to do things, and she likes to craft! We made a Mommy and Me journal, a Summer Bucket list, and set a time each week when her and I would do something alone, like bake or craft. This week she chose making banana bread. We also searched Pinterest for crafts she wanted to make and made a Hobby Lobby shopping list. We are also planning on getting a bunch of crafty things she can do on her own for when she’s bored but I can’t sit and craft with her right then. (This mom doesn’t love crafting to begin with-but I do love spending time with her!) We got her a relaxation coloring book and picked out some chapter books that I can read to them every day. So far, we’ve kept busy but we’ll see what the rest of the summer brings. Beau is content with his monster trucks and a little TV every now and then. Haha. We did get him a handwriting book so that he can practice writing-it’s pretty scary right now.
We went to the YMCA for a pool party for our neighborhood and lots of our friends went too. It was actually cold and windy and our kids cried most of the time but I thought it was fun!
This week the kids have been busy. They went to a little summer camp that Jaelyn and Peyton put on in the mornings and had swim lessons in the afternoons. I’m exhausted. Sitting out in the heat for an hour of lessons chasing crazy Trey and trying to keep him out of the pool at almost 7 months pregnant has done me in this week. But the kids are doing great! Beau won’t stop talking thru his lesson and he’s pretty funny but so talkative. He is swimming though! Kayli has been working on her breathing and backstroke and is looking good! Both of them have worked so hard and have never given up. I’ve been very proud of them. Today she said to throw Trey in for a little swim since he always wants in the water. He did good swimming with her! Today, finally, we got to go swimming and practice. Mom and dad came over so we took them swimming and since I had the extra help I was able to take the kids and go. They love diving for the rings now and Trey loves throwing them in the pool so that was fun for everyone.
The kids sure love their friends and they have lots of them. They are always asking for play dates and love when they get to play with friends or cousins.
I thought this was really funny. Kayli is soooo much like me. She has a lot of my same personality traits. The night before school ended I was at a Primary meeting until late. We had forgotten to make Mrs. Buell’s card and so when I got home I was worried that we had forgotten and that Kayli would be worried when she woke up so I put all of the stuff for it on her desk with a note telling her to work on the card when she woke up. Well when I got in bed, I noticed I had a note from Kayli because she too was worried about it!
Kenny started playing softball again and loves his jeep. He keeps busy with that, us, Elder’s Quorum President stuff, and NeONBRAND.
I am hanging in there. Heartburn has hit me full force and I have a hard time going to sleep because of it. I am working out three times a week thanks to three friends who make sure I still get to the gym with them at 6:00 am! It’s been a lot of fun and I’m hoping it helps me recover and feel normal again faster! I’m also still trying to play volleyball and although it hurts sometimes, it’s fun to be distracted by it. Stake volleyball started up too and Kayli loves going to it since all of her friends are there at the church. I had an ultrasound yesterday because I was measuring too small but the baby is measuring good and my placenta previa has cleared up.
Kayli… so grateful for her. She is such a good helper and she just knows how to help and when. She’s so good with Trey and knows how to keep him out of trouble, distract him, and help him and my hurting body appreciates her so much right now. She loves fashion and changes her outfits ten times a day but she does put all of her clothes away! She also does the laundry for me and can start loads and change loads. She loves spending time at grandma’s houses and always cries when we leave because it wasn’t long enough. She loves play dates.
Beau… I just always call him my sweet, sweet, Beau Beau because he really is (most of the time) just the sweetest to me. He loves his primary teachers and lately chooses to sit with Bro. Ruiz (his old Sunbeam teacher) during Sacrament meeting. He also learned that Bro. Ruiz was a really, really good basketball player and when he said “we should play basketball one day” Beau was so excited. He is crazy, wild, loud, but sweet, loving, and helpful. He’ll help me with Trey and laundry too. He also can never find a pair of shoes and often ends up wearing Kayli’s shoes! He’s obsessed with Monster Trucks and so is his friend Benny so they have a blast playing Monster Jam for hours at a time.
Trey… he is crazy, crazy, crazy but so sweet and loving. He still loves so intensely who he knows and shows it too. He is starting to say more words. He likes to read before bed, is in to everything and on top of everything, likes to help me cook and bake which is actually very NOT helpful, loves taking pictures, and will run away from us. He’s super independent and thinks he can do anything the rest of us can including getting his own food and drink, getting into cupboards and pouring his own cereal. He’s constantly on the counter and if we leave bathroom doors or cupboards open-we are in trouble. He’s just so cute and hard all at the same time!
Sure do love these kids!
