Kenny turned 33 this year. I think he had a great birthday complete with doing all the things he loves: off-roading, karaoke, and Monster Jam. We had a blast going to a karaoke place with the Cahills, Lawsons, and McCormicks. We rented our own room and everyone sang and had a good time. It was such a fun thing to do with friends and we didn’t stop laughing. Kenny loves him some karaoke! The next morning was his actual birthday so him and his friends went early-morning off-roading with the kids while the moms and babies went shopping. We all met up for pizza for lunch and then that afternoon Kenny and Beau went to Monster Jam with Tate and Owen, Josh and Quinn and Kenny’s dad. This has become a birthday tradition. Beau hasn’t stopped talking about Monster Jam, either. Kenny is pretty great and we are sure glad he’s ours!
We got a Honda Odyssey van. It took a lot of convincing Kenny but it’s so nice and roomy. We have loved it.
We went to Crystal Palace Skating Center. It started out really bad and the kids kept falling and not wanting to skate anymore. But they kept on trying and both of them ended up getting it down pretty good and skating for three hours. It was so much fun and it totally took me back to fourth grade. That place hasn’t changed a bit! I loved skating around with the kids and watching them have so much fun with their friends. The Jacksons came too so my kids were loving it.
Two days before Easter my kids hadn’t done a single Easter egg hunt so we went to Rachel’s to have an egg hunt with the cousins. Mom and Kelli got to come too since they were on Spring Break. We colored eggs at her house too. Even Trey was able to scoot around and collect eggs! Mom got the cousins matching outfits. We also had a little egg hunt with our friends. Easter Sunday was special and we tried to really teach our kids about the resurrection. I got to teach sharing time in primary that day and I wanted it to be really special. I practiced with my kids a lot so that I’d feel really comfortable and it was good for my kids to hear about the importance of Easter. Beau also came home from Sunbeams with the cutest paper about the Resurrection and he could tell us all about it. It was a very good Easter Sunday! We actually celebrated Easter with Kenny’s family the next weekend when Kaci was in town.
We love playing outside and especially riding bikes. We like meeting up with friends too. The weather has been so great!
Trey is 9 months now. He is going strong breastfeeding still and he eats more solids than the other two kids combined. He loves to eat and he’ll eat anything. He sleeps a solid 11 hours usually at night and takes pretty good naps unless he’s teething or sick or something. Unfortunately, he gets lots of naps in the car too because life is a lot crazier with the third kid. But he does great. He is crawling and has 6 teeth. He is a big boy too. He is wearing clothes that Beau wore when he was 18 months! We love our Trey boy (Beau has always called him Trey boy and so we all call him Trey boy.)
Beau started playing soccer! It is the cutest thing ever to watch him. He is on a team with his buddies, Bennett and Easton. Paige is the coach but Erin and I have gotten to help her and it’s been fun. Beau is a good little soccer player but he’s also a little sensitive and has had a lot of breakdowns. He’s had two games so far. He scored a goal in his first game and was really fast and aggressive. He fell down though, and it was game over for him. He didn’t want to play anymore. He maybe played 2 minutes total. This last week he lasted about 30 seconds and called it quits. It’s so wierd! But I think he’s also overwhelmed by all the people and not quite sure what to do. He’s sure cute in his uniform though! Beau loves math and numbers. He is always counting and adding numbers. He likes to get out the tape measure and measure things. And he reads the numbers on the tape measure. He could do that for hours! He can also sign his name (as in sign language). He has been so good in primary. He loves his teachers-the Lawsons who are also our good friends. He’s always talking about Ed. He is crazy boy. He loves to be in our backyard (which is only dirt right now) playing with his monster trucks. He’s always dirty and sweaty. He’s also very funny and we are pretty obsessed with him. He still gives awesome prayers. The other night he blessed that Peter Pan would come to our house and that Grandpa would catch the lizard next time (after Grandpa didn’t catch the big lizard at his house). He also loves to cuddle and come sneak in our bed when Kayli falls asleep. He’s hard to resist because he’s so cute and cuddly!
Kayli loves school and learning. She is always writing. She likes to learn how to spell words and writes us notes all the time. She also has a “sign in book” that she is always playing with. She isn’t as in to reading but I think she’ll get there soon. She is a great helper with Trey and it really helps me out. She loves to change her outfits 20 times a day and she is really in to fashion and style. The other day she “dyed” her hair pink with a pink marker and three days later it still hasn’t all come out. She also colored her friend’s hair the same way… She is learning to play the piano. I have given her probably 5 lessons and she’s picking it up quick. She likes to practice and she’s actually pretty good at listening to me. We taught the kids how to play Train with dominoes just like I played growing up-and she’s really getting the hang of it! She also came home from school the day before April Fool’s Day and was so excited to play tricks on us the next day. She learned all about it at school and had some fun pranks to play. She had the hardest time keeping it a secret from all of us and she said she couldn’t wait to see what we did to her! So Kenny and I had to find something to do to the kids. We went with frozen Cheerios and milk for breakfast. She thought it was pretty funny. She got a small ball from the treasure chest at school and put it in Kenny’ shoe so he’d feel it when he put his shoe on. Then she left me funny pictures all day. She loves having friends over and hanging out with them at volleyball. I can’t believe she’ll be leaving me in 4 months for all-day kindergarten. It’s going to be sad not having her around all day.
Kenny is busy with work but he loves it. He has been running lots and preparing for another Ragnar. He hits the gym some nights with his friends. It’s so nice having a gym in our neighborhood clubhouse because we can just run down there in a few minutes. He has started working on our backyard. We are loving having so many good friends right in our neighborhood.
I am 2nd counselor in the primary presidency now. I was secretary before and very comfortable there but it’s been a good change for me to do things that have been a little more out of my comfort zone. But I love being in primary! I keep really busy with that and with the kids but I love being busy. I also love playing volleyball every week.
And a few more of our fun kids…
