Kayli’s birthday was November 24th and it was such a fun day. She was so excited and giddy all day and we kept busy the entire day. We started the morning playing with her friends at the park and then we went to see Big Hero 6 with Grandma Eliason. That night we had the Eliasons and Englands over for cake and ice-cream and presents. She loved the phone calls and the presents and it was so much fun to watch her feel so special and loved.
We spent Thanksgiving with Kenny’s family this year. The Turkey Trot has become a tradition and we have fun running it every year.
The kids had a blast decorating for Christmas. Kayli is quite the organizer/decorator and so she loved helping and Beau did great too!
I love the picture of Kayli holding the Nativity pictures above-one night for FHE she taught us the Nativity perfectly. She LOVES to do the lesson for FHE but she blew us away with how well she knew the story.
The Elf returned this year and the kids named him Ryan. We had a special Christmas breakfast the morning he came.
Kayli was terrified to sit on Santa’s lap and so she made up her mind that rather than sit on his lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas-she’d rather just get nothing-and she was ok with that. She was pretty happy when I told her we could mail him a letter instead.
Beau helped Kenny put up the lights.
The kids and I went with Grandma and Grandpa and Kelli to the Ethel M Cactus Garden to check out the lights.
We also went to the Live Nativity. Kayli remembered this from last year and was begging us to go again this year so of course we said yes! We love it!
Kayli made a gingerbread house at her preschool Christmas party.
Kayli loves to bake-much more than me-but she convinced me we needed to make Christmas cookies and she had a blast using cookie cutters and frosting her cookies.
Our ward Christmas pajama party was so much fun! And I didn’t think we’d even attempt a picture with Santa but they were actually ok with it as long as I was in between them and him.
We did Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve. The kids were so giddy.
Later that night we went with Kenny’s Eliason side of the family for a nativity by the kids. Kayli surprised us and actually acted out Mary even though she was a little nervous.
Christmas Day was perfect. The kids were so much fun and they loved what Santa brought. Kayli didn’t ask for much but Santa brought her a baby high chair and a microphone that she was pretty excited about. Beau only wanted a Lightning McQueen and since Kayli got him one Santa brought him his first set of legos. They ended up getting lots of legos from Grandma and lots of other stuff too. Santa brought me a beach cruiser I’d been wanting.
We got to see Josh, Mandy, and Lexi on their way back home to Cali.
We spent New Year’s Eve with friends and had a blast just hanging out letting the kids play while we ate and played games.
January 3rd was Kim and Austin’s wedding. It was a great day and everything was perfect. Plus, I love when we get to see all of our Utah family. Kayli loves the girl cousins of mine who are all so fun like her aunts. She has a blast hanging out with them and is always so sad when we have to say good-bye. We also had to say good-bye to Kim and Austin since they were headed to Idaho for school the next day. We won’t see them for months again.
My family…
The Varney cousins who were there and spouses…
I love love love this picture of Kayli and Kim. They have always been really close and Kayli loves her Mimmy.
She likes Austin a little too…
My cute Grandma and Grandpa were the couple married the longest…
Our big news is that baby #3 will be here this year-due July 10th!
They got some good practice with Heather’s baby.
Kayli lately… she loves to dress up and wear 20 outfits a day. She has seemed so big to me lately. Today when I dropped her off for school she said I didn’t need to take her to the door. She is smart, imaginative, independent, stubborn, and most of the time-a great big sister.
Beau is our all-boy, little cuddle-bug and loving kid. He loves nursery and playing with friends and is fine leaving mom and dad unlike Kayli. He is starting to say more words but it’s still a guessing game for us most of the time.
And I guess having an older sister means stuff like this is just going to happen…
We sure love these kids…
