This past month has been pretty eventful for our little family. Kenny studied, studied, studied and finished his first year of law school. Unfortunately, the week before finals our apartment flooded…not bad…but enough that our bedroom, bathroom, and closet had to be repaired. Just as we were going to bed one night, the fire alarm went off in our building. We bundled Kayli up and went outside to see what was going on. The people in the apartment next to us, but up on the third floor, somehow managed to set off their fire sprinklers and the water gushed out for probably 20 minutes. As the water trickled down, some of it did end up getting to our place. We were some of the lucky ones though. As everyone waited outside during the whole ordeal, we actually had a fun time meeting all of our neighbors. We slept on the floor in Kayli’s room for a few nights and the whole repair process was actually ok. Our place is back to normal now and Kenny was able to study and sleep comfortably, so we can’t complain too much!
I loved that my parents and Kim came to visit this month. Kim wanted her senior pictures taken at the beach and she just so happens to have a sister who lives near the beach who has a good friend who is a really good photographer. We went up to La Jolla and Mandy took her pictures for her while the rest of us had our own photo shoot! (And I can’t believe that Kim is graduating!) I really do love living by the ocean!
Mandy did take this one of us…aren’t the colors so pretty?
My parents left on Friday, Kenny took his last final on Saturday morning, and then we drove to Vegas to spend a few days with family. It had been a whole 2 months since the last time we had been there! That’s long for us! We were able to be there for Kayli’s first Easter. I think she liked what the Easter Bunny left her…
I love family! And even though living in San Diego away from everyone has been fun and good for our little family, I do love and miss the big family get-togethers. I love Sunday dinners and we were able to be with both of our families for Easter dinner. We also got both families together for family night and played sand volleyball. Between both families we have quite the volleyball team! It’s been over a year since the last time I played volleyball and I sure have missed it.
We decided that since Kenny had a week off from school, we would spend a few days in Vegas, but then we wanted to actually enjoy some days in San Diego doing San Diego things that we don’t usually get to do. We bought season passes to the San Diego zoo, spent about an hour there, and decided to leave since we can go back whenever now! The zoo was great-and we’ve hardly seen it all!
We also spent an afternoon at the beach, went to breakfast, went to the mall, and drove to the International border (some people think that’s really dangerous, but it was fun! and we arrived home safe and sound!)
Well Kenny is reading for school and it hasn’t even started yet! Bleh! I’ve loved having him around so much but tomorrow he must go back to school. I get bored sometimes, of staying at home all day. I was always a busybody and I’m still not sure that I love having so little to do and sometimes I feel like I have no responsibility-but I really do! I have a new, special responsibility! Kayli! It’s quite the responsibility too. I sometimes wonder if I’m doing an ok job. I think my little girlie is learning a few things from me…impatience, stubbornness, lack of relaxation…and we laugh about that. But from someone or somewhere she is also learning how to melt her parents’ hearts, make everyone around her smile, and make me realize how lucky I am to have her in my life. I AM SO BLESSED!
I have been enjoying a few things lately though…I get to go workout with two friends two nights a week (Wish it could be more, but I’m grateful for two nights!) We switch off working out at each other’s apartment gyms and Kenny babysits! It’s a great time and it’s fun to get out. I’ve also been looking at recipe books, planning yummy dinners, and figuring out my favorites-and all of this NEVER happened before I was able to stay at home. I’ve been using my new Bosch a little more and it’s super fun to surprise Kenny with treats! I’ve also been reading for fun-and that, too, NEVER happened before. My next plan is to learn how to work my sewing machine…
And finally, a few things about Kayli at 5 months….
1. She’s still tiny…but super alert and with-it. It’s funny to see such a little baby doing as many things as she is able to do.
2. She is rolling all over the place!
3. She smiles at anyone and everyone-even strangers (unless those “strangers” sleep at her house…hehehe)
4. She plays with toys. Books are her favorite.
5. Oh…and she takes goofy pictures with me…hehehehe…

Wow, I didn't know that your apartment was flooded! YIKES! Glad everything is ok now. Wow, way to go, Kenny, for finishing his first year of law school! I hear that is the hardest year. 🙂 I'm so jealous you live by the ocean! Those pictures are super cute!! I love you, Danielle!! Wish we could visit!
