January was a pretty chill month for us and after a few months of holidays, wedding planning, morning sickness, and busy callings-I was ready to relax and maybe actually just stay at home for a few days, which is something I don’t usually like to do. We had colds the first week of January but honestly it was such a welcome excuse to just be home and I so much enjoyed the relaxing week with snuggly kids.
Uncle Taylor came home this month. We met him at the airport.
That same day baby Evelyn was born. She is Russ and Rachel’s new baby girl and the kids loved meeting her. They liked holding her and couldn’t stop smiling.
We had Adam and Emma come stay at our house for a few days. The kids had a blast playing with their cousins and having a sleepover. We took them to FLIPnOUT and met Grandma and Grandpa and Kelli. Then Grandpa bought them all ice cream cones.
I decided to walk all four of them to the park to play and have a picnic. Since I could only put two in the stroller, I had the two older ones ride a bike and scooter. It started out pretty disastrous and by time we actually got to the park I was pretty exhausted. But Kayli watched Adam ride her bike and it’s like that’s all she needed to finally get the hang of it. She was a pro at her bike by time we left the park. The walk home though was up a pretty big hill. Kayli couldn’t ride her bike up it so Adam did but he was so tired by time he got to the top that he had to sit in the stroller. Beau rode the scooter but he was forever slow. By time we got to the top everyone was so tired yet I had to push three kids in a stroller and carry the scooter home. I’m sure I looked ridiculous. I’m not sure what I was thinking taking that on!
Since Kayli got so good at her bike that day we decided to take a family bike ride. The weather has been PERFECT here the past month and we’ve enjoyed being outside lots.
Josh and Mandy were here one weekend to celebrate Josh’s 30th birthday. We met them and Logan and Lisa Friday night for pizza. Saturday we took the kids bowling. That night we headed out for Josh’s birthday celebration. Since he served his mission in Germany he wanted to go to Hofbrahaus. It was quite the place! But Josh loved every minute of it. Mandy had Reto Bakery madk a cake that was super delicious and we had that at the restaurant. Then the guys and Mandy did the zip line at the Rio. We finished the night with some laser tag at FLIPnOUT.
The kids had fun wile we were out too…
We’ve been having lots of park days and these kids love going to the library.
We hiked Lone Mountain yesterday and the kids loved it. Crazy Beau jumped down most of the mountain. We only hiked up about 30 minutes to the first overlook but the view was awesome. The weather was great.
We found out that baby #3 is a boy! Kayli wanted a girl so she was a little sad when she heard that but she’s excited now. She comes up with the most random names. I’m not so sure she’ll be picking the name.
A little about Kayli…she still loves rearranging her room and it has increased to rearranging the things on her wall. She has been to a few birthday parties this month all by herself. This is huge for her and yet she’s been so brave and has so much fun. I think she’s proud of herself. She’s fighting nap time which I’m not ready for. I hear I’m lucky she’s napped this long. I’ve been letting her choose where to nap and she usually plays for a long time before she’s tired but I’ve found her in some pretty interesting places when she finally does doze off. This day she chose to wear Kenny’s dirty shirt to sleep and woke up looking like this…
Beau finally climbed out of his crib at 2 1/2. Kayli was 19 months when she first did so I just couldn’t that Beau who’s more of a daredevil hadn’t attempted it. Now that he’s climbed out he also sleeps in random places. We tried both kids in one room but that didn’t go so well. Beau didn’t know what to do and so he just played and kept Kayli up! He’s going through a “cry for daddy” phase. At nap time, he likes to cry for dad for a long time and stare out the window and cry “daddy home”. Whenever he’s hurt he now wants daddy. He likes to play rough and tackle and even though it’s all for fun I have to remind him to settle down because he looks vicious but he’s also the sweetest boy! He is all boy and makes me excited for another one.
More fun with Grandmas and cousins…
Fun with daddy and legos…
Sure do love these two…
