T-Ball ended a few weeks ago. At the banquet, the kids were so excited about their trophies and Beau now carries his everywhere. He got the award for “Fastest Runner” and even ran up for his award so everyone thought that was funny. We had a great season and it was so much fun to watch him play and to hang out with the grandparents and lots of our friends at all of the games. Beau loved it.
A few years ago Chase convinced us to go to a Haunted House for a date night. It was really funny and random but we went with him anyway. It actually become our tradition but this year we decided to do an Escape Room instead. It was so much fun! We were locked in a prison cell and had to use clues to try and escape. We were able to do it though and it was really cool! After that we decided to continue our “Halloween” date and went to look at some real “haunted” houses and some actual buffalo on a dark road that Chase and Haley said really exist until we heard people yelling at us to get off the dirt road. It was creepy and funny. Then we played Compatibility which I promised was a good time with Kenny around and he didn’t disappoint.
Our ward did a service project at 3 Square and it was so much fun! When I taught school, some of my students went home each weekend with food from what people had packaged together at 3 Square so that they wouldn’t go hungry over the weekend so I know how important this service really is. We packaged thousands of bags of food and it was great hanging out with everyone anyway! Our ward also cleaned up the Butterfly Park one Saturday and even the kids got to help with that. It was neat seeing them help and be a part of that service. Beau loved going around with Mrs. Kim during that.
We very much enjoyed our October and all the Halloween festivities. Kayli decided to be Violet from Incredibles since she already had the costume and Beau just wanted to be the Big Bad Wolf (he was that last year) so costumes this year were easy and cheap. I found a $5 elephant costume for Trey and called it good. I went as a witch and Kenny was a nerd for the Trunk-or-Treat. I wish fun costumes were my thing but it stresses me out every year so this year was really nice and easy. The Trunk-or-Treat was so much fun and as always, our ward had a great turnout. Trey walked around with his pumpkin in hand and had trick-or-treating down by the end. It was too cute! Kayli and Beau both got to wear costumes to school and had fun Halloween parties. Kayli’s school did a costume parade and so we got to go watch that on Halloween too. On Halloween night, mom and dad and Rachel’s family came over for trick-or-treating. It was so much fun in our neighborhood. There were so many people out trick-or-treating and so many houses all decked out and giving out candy. Kenny’s parents came over a little later to see the kids in costumes and we did a little more trick-or-treating with them. It was also fun hanging out with dad that night for his birthday!
Kayli is getting excited for her birthday. She also comes home from school every day excited about what she’s learning. She is working hard and it is showing. She’s learning how to read and passed her Kindergarten sight word list. She loves to write and is always making books and posters and invitations where she has sounded out all the words and I love figuring out what she wrote. It’s fun because Beau is soaking it all in too. He wants to read and write like her and so he’s basically learning it all too! She loved going to her school book fair and she likes when I get to come volunteer in her classroom. It’s a lot of fun! She has learned how to sing “Lost Boy” and I play it on the piano while she sings.
Beau is such a sweet boy who sure loves playing with his friends. They’re pretty funny together too. He likes to sit and watch TV or read with me in the mornings when Kayli is at school and Trey is asleep and he’s the only one of our kids who will so I love it so much. He is also such a sweet, caring boy who is so quick to help somebody out or say hi to people. He’s friendly and kind and I hope he always stays that way. He loves to go out and talk to our turtles. He is also great at taking out the garbage and he does it every trash day. He loves the responsibility.
Trey is a crazy kid but we love him. He doesn’t know how to be quiet and won’t sign and can’t talk so he’s constantly frustrated when we don’t understand him. His normal voice is a scream. He climbs on everything and has broken lots of my candle jars when he throws them on the floor that he’s gotten out of our childproofed cabinets. He loves people and makes their day when he gets excited to see the people he knows and runs up to them for a hug. We love his squishy cheeks and the way he lays his head on our shoulder for a few minutes before we put him in bed. He also has a lot of baby friends and it’s fun to watch them try to keep up with the older kids. He has recently liked coloring with the kids. He still loves music and can’t help but dance when he hears any kind of music-even a hum!
The kids spend every day after school outside riding bikes, scooters, and playing. The neighborhood kids all seem to gather down at our house and sometimes we’ve got a ton of kids out there! Sometimes my friends come down with all their kids too and we sit on chairs out there hanging out until the dad’s come home. The kids love it. The weather has been perfect!
A few more of the kids…
