Family pictures! Mandy is the best. We sure love her and all the special pictures we have because of her!
Although we were anxious to get this school year over with and hopefully have a normal start in the fall, we were also so sad to see this school year come to an end. The kids didn’t get enough time at school. Beau and Bennett ended up in the same class but since the Cahills moved Bennett will go to a different school next year. It was sad to see their days at school together come to an end (but hopefully eventually they are back at school together again!) I didn’t want Trey’s Kindergarten year to come to an end under such weird circumstances. They never got to go to specials, they never got to play on the playground, they had to wear masks at school, and other annoying things. I wish he could have experienced a more normal school year but we are hopeful that 1st grade will be amazing! We didn’t want to say goodbye to Mrs. Buell either. Although she did great with online teaching, I wish that Trey had her in person for the entire year. She also retired this year and moved to Washington so we were so sad to say goodbye. She’ll be back lots and we will get to see her! We’ve also seen her a few times since school ended and have kept in touch. We will miss seeing her at the school next year! She has really blessed our family and we consider her family! We gave her this special drawing on the last day of school and we were all in tears.
We went off-roading and ended up at the lake on Memorial Day. The kids loved paddle boarding and floating in tubes. After that we went swimming and had a BBQ at Rachel’s house. It was a great start to summer!
The kids had a piano recital! It was so normal! I’m so glad they got to have one and they both did awesome even though it’s scary to get up and play in front of everyone!
Beau is still doing hockey and man is he fun to watch! The atmosphere at City National is so fun especially while the Golden Knights were doing so good in the playoffs. We were obsessed with those games! We love our Knights and Beau playing on the Lil’ Knights is so exciting. He is learning lots and scores like 9 goals every game. Haha. The coach on the sideline one day told him, “great goal, terrible celebration” and showed him how the pros celebrate after scoring a goal haha!
Kayli and Beau both finished their soccer seasons. Kayli improved so much and earned the “perfect passer” award. It was fun watching her try something new and she really was a great passer! Kenny had fun coaching her team and they are going to do it again in the fall! I love watching Beau play soccer too. He scores lots of goals but also is good about passing to players who haven’t scored so that they can get goals too. He’s also crazy out there and isn’t afraid to get in the way of the ball or shoot and fall and be goofy when they score. Wesley came and took some awesome pictures for us!
We had a great San Diego vacation! We stopped at Cracker Barrel on the way down and our kids thought it was the coolest restaurant haha.
We bought zoo passes (and didn’t tell the kids until we were there) since we couldn’t take Trey to the zoo all last year and already we stopped at the Safari Park on the way down (it was so fun to take Trey on the safari!), the zoo one day with mom and dad and Mandy and her kids (Avery and Trey together were everything I hoped those animal-loving friends would be… so adorable), and the zoo another morning.
Balboa Park…
Zoo Day…
Saturday we met my family at the beach and the Poulsens came too! We had so much fun playing Cross Net-our new favorite game!
After the beach we checked out Belmont Park since we’ve never actually ridden the roller coaster there. The big kids rode the roller coaster, we shopped around, and did a few other little rides.
Then we went to Old Town to celebrate Kim’s birthday! We walked around and went to the candy store and then ate at our favorite-Casa Guadalajara.
We loved hanging out with Josh and Mandy at night and eating at Phil’s BBQ-twice. Mandy took our family pictures and I think they went well until Sami fell in the ocean and was completely soaked in her white dress! Luckily, we were finished and Mandy got some pictures of them splashing in the water at that point. We celebrated Kenny’s Father’s Day down there too.
We even did the zoo one more morning before we went home because why not while we have year passes? That morning we did the tour and it was so cool! Trey loved it so much but so did all of the kids. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them all at the zoo. So fun!
We went to see Peter Rabbit with Kenny’s family.
Kayli got to go with Grandma and Rachel’s family to see Annie at Tuacahn! She loved the play and had fun staying the night in St. George and eating lots of good food, stopping at Swig a few times, swimming and shopping. She took most of these pictures and they turned out so good!
We went to Daisy’s 1st birthday party and it was a fun 4th of July party with a water slide and the kids loved it!
After Daisy’s party we headed up to Warm Springs for a fun ward party with swimming, eating, and playing Cross Net. Then we went to the Logandale fireworks. We had such a fun 4th of July this year that seemed to last all weekend. We had fun hanging outside with neighbors and watching their fireworks show.
Beau and Kayli have been earning money babysitting for neighbors. They do such a good job! They had fun watching cousin Daisy one day too.
Trying to keep busy during the summer days at home…we’ve had a few beautiful overcast days where we’ve been able to go to the park during the day! Other days have been so hot that we don’t want to go anywhere unless we’re swimming.
Some beauties of Beau:
Trey has been counting down to his birthday for weeks. He has a paper chain up in our house as well as at Madden’s house haha. He can’t wait! I’m not ready for him to turn one year older. We celebrated his birthday during Sunday dinner at my mom’s house the other day since they will be out of town on his birthday. He packed a bag full of animals and when we got there he took them to my mom and said he thought maybe they could go on top of his cake. It was so cute and funny. He loves animals so much still! He has been learning a few piano songs from his teacher-Beau! He is also starting to read more and is working hard to learn some more sight words over the summer.
