We are enjoying life and keeping busy! Soccer games started for the boys. Kenny is coaching Beau’s team and they are doing great! I help coach at practices and it’s actually a lot of fun. We have a fun team and they are really learning positions and are fun to watch play! Trey scored 7 goals in his first game. Nobody else was very interested in playing that game- haha. He is liking it but he mostly loves all of his soccer team friends. He can’t decide which girl on the team he’s going to marry! They look forward to practices and the games and I love being out there playing soccer with my kids!
We went to a Las Vegas Lights Soccer Game.
Kayli started piano lessons with Caroline Robinson. She has been looking forward to this day for a long time. She practices hard and on her own and is doing so well with it. I’m proud of her for being brave enough to do something like this (a year ago she wouldn’t have gone to a teacher she didn’t know). She’s really growing up!
She’s also done some other amazing things lately! She ran for class representative for student council. She had to make a poster and give a speech in front of her class. She worked hard on both and even though she was nervous, she got up in front of her class and gave the speech! A lot of kids ran and she knew her chances of winning were slim but she wanted to try anyway and I am so proud of her. She didn’t win but she came home happy for the kid who won and she said if she couldn’t vote for herself then she would have voted for him because he’ll be so good. She didn’t complain, get down on herself, or get sad. She’s a great example to me! She got a fun surprise delivered (Crumbl) from Grandma and Grandpa for working so hard and being so brave.
She also got an award for demonstrating the characteristic of Respect in her class. She is definitely a respectful girl- especially at school. Her teacher seems to really love her. She’s been out on maternity leave and Kayli really misses her but she also sees her after school most days. She’s been an awesome teacher so far (even on leave) and has really challenged Kayli. They’re doing some intense stuff in school! She is loving it and working really hard.
I’ve been helping in Beau’s classroom every other week, sometimes every week. I love it. It makes me miss teaching so much! I love that he’ll still run up to me and give me a hug when I come in the classroom and today I even went to recess with them. It was fun to watch Beau and his friends play basketball and to see that all the kids seemed to be nice!
Today he received the Citizenship Award for demonstrating Responsibility.
Beau spends more time on his head than on his feet it seems like. He’s always doing headstands. He loves being crazy with his buddies and hates homework. He loves playing football at the park with Mike and the older boys and Carter and Benny. He is always catching grasshoppers!
Trey LOVES preschool. He can’t stand that he doesn’t go every day, all day. He loves the kids in his class and Mrs. Kim. When I drop him off every day he is so anxious to run up to the door and say hi to everyone. There isn’t an ounce of shy in that kid and he’s just so friendly. He loves everyone so much! He is the cutest walking up with his backpack on and eager to go to school. I can’t stand how cute it is. I record his little voice from the car almost every day (since he’s loud enough) so that I can always remember how friendly and funny he was waiting for Mrs. Kim to open the door.
Trey is one of a kind. He has a mind of his own and if he thinks it up, he does it. “I wonder if the 12 year old girl down the street wants to play…” then he rides his bike down without asking my permission, and sees if she wants to play. “I wonder where Kayli and Milani went…” then again without permission gets on his bike and rides around the neighborhood looking for them. “I wonder if McKay or Madden are outside…” then he gets on his bike and heads around the block to check. Sometimes I don’t even know he left! He also says whatever he’s thinking. He rolled down his window as I was backing out the other day to tell our sweet neighbor across the street, “can you leave suckers on our doorstep for us?” (She brings suckers over a lot, but I was mortified he asked her for them!) We had another neighbor delivering some cookies to another neighbor and Trey asked her, “are those cookies for us?” They weren’t but she got some for him. Mom bought him a snow cone at a soccer game once and so the next week when she wasn’t there he asked Bennett’s grandma if she had a dollar for him. He told her that I didn’t bring my purse but he saw she had a purse so she probably had a dollar. We’re working on not asking people for things! The problem is most people say oh yes of course when he asks! Haha. The first picture is of Trey coming back from delivering Adele’s newspaper to her. He went under her garage door and delivered it to her in the house! She gave him suckers of course! Kenny came out to Sami standing on her driveway and asked where Trey was. She told him he was in Adele’s house! But apparently he saw her newspaper and figured he’d deliver it to her.
The other day Beau came in screaming 2 seconds after I walked inside for a second. He had his hands to his mouth and blood was dripping everywhere. Apparently Trey threw a rock at his mouth. Trey told me he was trying to throw the rock over Beau’s head. The cut was deep enough he could have used stitches but also not so bad that if he hated the idea of stitches he probably shouldn’t get them (luckily Dr. Kevin lives around the block and we visit him every so often. Sami had been there a few days before because I accidentally pulled her elbow out and she was one sad girl!) He will probably have a scar on his lip since we didn’t so stitches but he was so relieved he didn’t need them. (And now he’ll have two scars on his lips).
Sami has turned from the sweetest thing there ever was to….. not always so sweet. She still is sweet but she has hit a new stage that’s for sure. When she smiles it’s the biggest smile ever though and when she’s happy she’s extremely happy. I think she’s picked up on Trey’s personality and she’s following in his footsteps because she seems so friendly and outgoing like Trey. She’ll say hi to anyone and isn’t afraid to have a conversation with just about anyone. She cracks us up when she says “I have an idea”, “you need me?” or “okimilk” (oatmeal) or “Mickey Mouse” (something about that one is just too cute even though she says it right). She’s a terror at the store. She climbs out of the cart and screams her head off while we are there. She makes running errands pretty difficult!
We have the best weather right now and we love playing at the grass with friends. We get some intense football or soccer games going!
The kids started playing Crossing Guard the other day after we had walked to school. It was cracking me up.
Emily had tickets to the Women’s General Session of Conference and she invited me and Kayli! It was Kayli’s first time being old enough to go and she wanted to go. I was so excited for her to be in the Conference Center with the prophet. I loved going the few times I have been to conference before. We all headed up to Utah after school on Friday and were excited for all the treats we love up there. We stayed with Aunt Cindy but spent lots of time visiting with Grandma and Grandpa. Mom and Kim came up Saturday morning and came with us to conference. We went early and ate at City Creek. The Conference was pretty historical! It was awesome to be there and it was a fun girls’ outing. Kenny and the other kids and Scott and his boys went to the Bean Museum so that Kenny could experience the museum with Trey. He’s never been with him before. Then they got Crumbl (Kenny’s favorite way to treat Grandma and Grandpa) and went and made dinner for everyone! The next morning mom made sausage and biscuits for everyone while we watched conference together. It was fun to be with everyone! We took a drive between sessions on a dirt road up towards Sundance. It was a crazy adventure! After Conference everyone who was in town came over for dinner that Aunt Cindy made. It was so good to be with so many cousins and to see all of the second cousins playing together. We were just there at the end of July so they all remembered playing together and were excited to get together. We drove home Monday morning (the kids were excited to miss a day of school) and enjoyed Utah treats all the way home. It was a fun weekend to get away, enjoy another historical conference, and enjoy Utah!
We went to Gilcrease Orchard with all of Mrs. Kim’s preschool classes so Trey loved seeing so many friends. Everywhere he turned he was yelling hi to somebody. He loved running around with his buddies from class. Sami loved it too! It was the windiest day and I didn’t think we’d last out there very long but they went strong for over 2 hours! They loved the donuts, the hay ride, the straw maze, looking at chickens, and picking out pumpkins (so everything!). We have got to back with the rest of the family. It really is such a fun Fall thing to do here in Vegas.
The kids had the Apex Fun Run at their school.
We had to say goodbye to the Allred’s which was so so so so so sad. They are moving to Heber. We have loved their family so much. He was our Bishop when our ward split 6 years ago and we loved being in Egan Crest Ward. We have so many good memories from that time and Kenny worked closely with Bishop as his Ward Clerk and Elder’s Quorum President. Kacee was one of my dear friends. We have worked out together many mornings over the past years and played lots of volleyball, soccer and pickleball together. Trey also LOVES Kacee. He always gives her a huge hug and likes to chat with her. He always asks if he can go over to play with Kacee and sometimes she does ask if Kayli AND Trey can come over. Haha. But Kayli saying goodbye to Milani was the hardest part. They have been best friends for about 3 years and have done so much together. Kayli has spent tons of time at the Allred’s and Milani spent lots of time with us. They have so many fun memories and Kayli has had a really fun last few years. Kacee was also Kayli’s primary teacher when the girls started playing together years ago and she was always so sweet to Kayli when she’d come over. I always knew Kayli was in good hands when she was at the Allred’s house. The older girls have babysat for us and have also been so sweet to my kids and especially Kayli when she was over. Kayli had so much fun going to high school events with them or going to dinner with the girls. They really spoiled her. Man we will miss them!!! But Trey told them he will come to Utah and see them!
Kenny’s jeep died on him on the way home from work as we were trying to leave for Utah. Turns out he needed a new engine of all things!! WAH! So the last week until late at night he’s been working with a neighbor and friends to put in a new one.
I am still loving playing soccer and I am on our elementary school’s School Organization Team. It’s a team of 3 parents, 3 teachers and the principal who discuss the school plan, budget, etc. Today is the first meeting. I’m like nervous and excited!
