We had our Primary Program a few weeks ago and the kids did great. I sat on the stand too so I didn’t get to see them sing but Kayli sang all the words and Beau was actually well behaved and said his part (which was not how practices had gone so I was so relieved).
We went to the Pumpkin Patch with the Cahills which has been our tradition the past few years! The kids actually did the trampoline this year! Kayli did it and had the funniest scream the whole time. We couldn’t stop laughing! Beau did it too but got too scared and yelled that he hated it so he didn’t end up going that high. Trey loved the petting zoo while the other two wouldn’t even look at the animals. We are so excited that Halloween time is here!
We’ve had a few fun Girls’ Nights Out lately. I am so blessed to have the friends that I have in this ward! We all went to the Women’s Broadcast together and then to Kneaders. While we were at Kneaders the power went out so that was kind of funny. We just sat talking in the dark and they even brought free food out because they felt bad until they found out they had to close the restaurant. Then last weekend we went to Serendipity down at Caesar’s Palace. It was funny driving down the Strip because none of us go down there and everything looked different than we remembered. We had a blast there! We sat out on the patio and the weather was perfect and the view is so pretty. We all got Frozen Hot Chocolates and then we split appetizers that were delicious! Natalie ordered a slice of cheesecake that ended up being ginormous! We had a great time and stayed there really late. I definitely want to go back!
Kenny has been taking the kids to the skate park after T-Ball and all of them ride. Kenny rode one week too but busted his leg open!
We went to the Apex Fun Run at Kayli’s school. She wanted to do it but was nervous because she doesn’t think she’s a good runner. She gets discouraged in P.E. when kids are faster than her. We’ve encouraged her and practiced jogging and she’s a determined little girl. She ran the whole thing and did so well! She did 38 laps! It was so fun to watch her and cheer her on! Beau even snuck in for a lap and booked it past every one because he is so speedy fast. He’s excited to do it next year! It was fun to see Kayli with her class and teacher. Grandma and Grandpa England came with us too and helped cheer her on!
Kayli earned a Citizenship Award for being Responsible. 2 kids from her class were chosen and she was one of them. She definitely is responsible.
Even though sometimes Kayli likes to tell us she hates school and isn’t going (most mornings are pretty difficult), she really does love it. She is doing really well and is very well behaved at school. She can’t stop talking about her day once she gets home. She soaks it all in and remembers every little detail. I am pretty sure I know exactly how her teacher teaches and what she says during the day because Kayli comes home and plays school for hours talking just like the teachers. My favorite is when she pretends to be the teacher in the crosswalk, stopping traffic with one hand and waving for the kids to cross with the other hand. She always changes into a skirt (teacher outfit) and has a lanyard she wears with her fake badge. Beau is usually a good sport and plays the kids for her. They go outside a lot for recess and crosswalk duty and come inside for school. I love watching it and the funniest part is that she is exactly me at that age and I grew up wanting to be a teacher and did! She is very into everything that school has to offer and wants to do it all. She wants book orders, hot lunch, to run the Fun Run, to track her physical activity, to buy popcorn, etc. We don’t do it all but she loves it all. We also all rode our bikes to her school on “Walk or Bike to School Day”. The next day her and I walked/jogged to school. We started carpooling a few weeks ago so she comes home with friends three days a week. She’s the only girl but she is loving it. It’s pretty funny for each mom picking up. We have our double stroller with two kids in it and then 4 kids walking. We get comments every day! Kayli is super picky about her clothes and her lunches so that’s a struggle every morning. She is pretty spirited when it comes to senses (I’ve been reading all about spirited children and just laugh when the examples are an exact morning to us). The other night I was putting kids to bed alone since Kenny was out on visits. I was a little discouraged because kids don’t always cooperate. I asked Beau to say the prayer and he yelled no and said he didn’t like to pray and that Jesus wasn’t real because he couldn’t see him. It was seriously so sad but also a good learning experience for me because I need to help Beau know and feel that Jesus definitely is real. I know he does know but I probably should do an even better job at helping him to REALLY know. Kayli piped right up though and said that she would pray because she knew Jesus was real. She said she had prayed (she says her own prayers every day) for Heavenly Father and Jesus to help her stop crying at school (she cried every morning for 5 weeks when the bell rang to line up. She was fine once they got inside but she got so worked up about it all and it was embarrassing for all of us every day). She said that they helped her to stop crying. And they did. It was so cool to hear her own experience and testimony about prayer. I didn’t even know that she had been asking for help with that in her personal prayers. It was a very cool experience and I was glad that I was able to have that that night. She is starting to read and loves writing. She also loves spending time with grandparents and having sleepovers at their houses.
We also got her school pictures and I love my cute girl!
Beau is also loving school. We drive Carter to school and then they bring Beau home. I unlock the door right before he comes home and so he just walks right in around 3:10 and he just looks like such a big kid to me! He loves Mrs. Kim and he loves the kids in his class. (6 boys!) He talks about them all and 3 of them play T-Ball on the same team and another one is on another team so we see him at T-Ball a lot too. I’m not sure he’s an angel at school but I think he does ok. We went on a Field Trip to Gilcrease Bird Sanctuary last week with all of Mrs. Kim’s classes so it was tons of fun because almost everyone was from our ward. Lots of my friends were there and lots of Beau’s friends were there. He doesn’t love animals so he stayed away from the petting zoo parts and the loud bird rooms but other than that he had fun and talked about his field trip for days. Beau is still playing T-Ball and doing really well! He stopped a ball yesterday and threw it to first base and the boy on first almost got an out with it! He likes playing with all of his friends and we like going to watch him. Both Grandmas and Grandpas usually come to cheer him on and so it’s fun seeing them a lot too. Beau loves looking at all of us once he runs into home and always has the biggest grin on his face! He randomly wants to be a Gingerbread Man for Halloween. (Not sure I can pull that one off though). He’s recently become interested in mazes and can do really hard ones! He likes to learn sight words with Kayli and has recently become interested in writing words. He’s always asking me how to spell things. He’s started leaving us notes just like Kayli likes to do. He has lots of friends and the older boys even love to hang out with him. One boy in our ward asked if he could come over one day this week to teach Beau how to do a backflip on the trampoline. He’s 11. Another 9 year-old boy told his mom that Beau Eliason was a really cool kid. He said that if you wanted to hang out with a little kid, Beau would be the one you’d want to hang out with. Haha.
Until last week, Trey was such a crazy kid who exhausted me every single second that he was awake but then he got a little sick and it completely mellowed him out and we missed the normal Trey. So he’s back to normal and we are actually happy about it. Although, he cuddled with us SO much while he didn’t feel too good. He is still a fantastic sleeper and I feel very blessed for that! He loves Mickey, animals, going for bike rides, throwing balls, eating, playing with toys like Kayli and Beau, and reading books for about a minute. He says “hi dad” really well and tries “hi mom”. He signs “more” but won’t sign anything else. He knows exactly what he wants and nods yes and no. He get his own food out of the pantry a lot and brings it to us to open. Today Kenny asked him to get him his church shoes and I kid you not, Trey went into our closet and came back with his church shoe. We told him to go get the other one too and he did! We were pretty impressed. He loves to play in our backyard and chase the turtles. He likes to take his food outside and eat sitting in the rocks. He likes to run around at T-Ball with all the the other kids. He lives on the kitchen table.
Kenny was called as Elder’s Quorum President two weeks ago. He will be great at it. He loves people and being friends with everyone and he is so good at talking to people and sharing the gospel and he has already been so dedicated to his calling.
The kids love being outside playing with all of the neighbor kids. Most of the kids are a few years older than Kayli but they all love playing together. Kenny builds bike ramps that they all like to come jump and Beau likes to play basketball with the junior high aged boys. They are really sweet though and let him come shoot hoops. Some of the kids are in our ward but some are not members so it’s been cool to teach our kids about being good friends and good examples. They have been so friendly and have been so well-liked. Even Kayli, who is sometimes shy, has been coming out of her comfort zone to say hi to new friends and invite them to play. We have great neighbors and it’s been fun getting to know them all a little better now that the weather has been so great and we are all outside a little more. We also like going for bike rides/runs in the mornings with friends when it can happen. The moms push the strollers and end up running pretty fast to keep up with the kids on bikes!
We are also loving watching BYU football games and getting ready for Halloween. I am loving this season of life and am so happy that I get to be home with my kids, volunteer in Kayli’s classroom, be here when they get home from school, hang out at T-Ball games and go to school events. I am excited for this Halloween and trick-or-treating with Trey and also Christmas and that he will be excited about things. We are very blessed and we have seen so many special blessings lately that we have needed. We are very grateful. Here are a few more of the kids…
