We’ve had a busy few weeks. First, my cousin, Emily, got married! Emily is so special to me. We didn’t see each other much growing up but when I was 18 we took a big family vacation to Sacramento and stayed with her family. We became instant best cousin-friends. From that day on (probably until I got married) we talked every single day-not kidding. She started flying out to Vegas all the time and became friends with all of my friends. She was super close to Kenny too and 6 1/2 years ago him and I flew up there and brought her to Vegas in a moving truck with all her stuff. Kenny and I weren’t even dating! She got a job at the law firm where me and Kenny were working and she moved in with me and Rebecca. It was great! We were roommates for a little over a year until I got married. Anyway, she’s the best. She’s like the happiest, friendliest, makes-you-feel-like-you-are-the-most-special-person-on-earth kind of person. I don’t know how you could not like her. There’s not a single reason. So Scott is a super lucky guy. We love him too! And her wedding was an absolute blast! The days leading up to the wedding were fun and the entire wedding day was perfect. I loved every minute of it!
Dawn and Hollie threw the best bachelorette party! We went to Lake Las Vegas and ate at some Italian restaurant and then hung out at a super nice suite there. It was beautiful! We had fancy desserts and laughed so hard we were crying. Em had no idea about the whole night.
Wedding Day!
Her reception was beautiful! The best part was that we got to see so much family. Most of our Utah family came down, Emily’s family from California all came out, and Kim made it down from Idaho. The food was awesome, the dancing was so much fun, we got to see lots of friends…everything was just perfect!
The four of us were roommates when Emily first moved here.
And lots of family pictures…
Road trip! We took a quick to trip to Salt Lake for Mother’s Day Weekend. We got to run the Breast Cancer 5K. My survivor grandma and her sisters do the race every year and this year my mom wanted to participate since she’s a survivor too! So a bunch of us were there supporting and running. We all stayed at a super cute hotel in Salt Lake right by the race. We were close to City Creek mall so we ate dinner at Kneaders and the kids played on the dinosaurs. Back at the hotel we went swimming. The kids loved the hotel! They kept running up and down the hall from our room to my parents’ room and Kayli kept singing “this is so much fun!” The next morning was the race. I planned on running the race as fast as I could and trying to place in the top 3 for my age group-and I got my best time yet! But…they didn’t time and they didn’t award by age group…we all had the same race number-2014…go figure, right? I stopped my phone at 25 minutes 13 seconds so I came in probably right around 25 minutes. My grandma, great aunts, and mom got to do the survivor walk and it was really cool! There were thousands of people there and so many survivors walking! It rained on us and some of us even hit hail during the run!
Kim surprised us by showing up in Salt Lake with Austin and Alex (it was mostly a surprise for Kelli but Kayli was so excited)!
We went to temple square and back to City Creek to eat after the race.
Kayli loves my cousins so much. She hung out with them during the wedding and was so excited to see them again this weekend. They are such good sports too. They played Frozen with her because Kayli says Lindsey makes a good Anna and McKenna makes a good Elsa with their long hair. They braided their hair and played with Kayli forever. She had a blast! She was sad to leave them.
I got to spend Mother’s Day morning with my kids, my mom, and my grandma so that was nice. The rest of the day was spent driving home from Utah in a blizzard! It was crazy!
My 4 generation picture…
Our kids got to see every one of their living grandparents that day. Here’s Kenny’s 4 generation picture…
We had Mother’s Day dinner at Kenny’s aunt and uncle’s house. Kayli and Beau love playing with Kenny’s little cousins…and taking goofy pictures!
Kayli lately…she’s a really good girl. She plays pretty well with Beau and let’s him copy her, bother her, and tag along. She makes up songs all the time. She watched me play volleyball last night and ever since she’s been having me practice volleyball with her-and she’s pretty good! She’s always sneaking gum. She likes to shop with me. She loves playing games-Candy Land, Uno Attack, and Memory are her favorites.
Beau…he’s so loving. He’ll randomly just run up to someone that we know and give them a hug. He dances around a lot and gets SO excited when he sees things that he likes when we are driving-like tractors, trucks, buses, the park, etc. He freaks out and screams because he is just so excited. He loves to play with cars and is still obsessed with the movie, Cars, and anything associated with it. He makes us laugh all day long. His only new word is “uh-oh”. He’s a terror at the store.
